Lake Harriet/Calhoun Bike Path Discussions Show How Far We Have to Go

The suggestion of making the bike paths around Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska (Lake Calhoun) two-ways was quickly shot down by a community advisory committee this week. Doubling Biking in Minneapolis

26th StreetWe talk a lot about the benefits of increasing biking - better health, more tightly-knit communities, and individual savings on car costs - but it can be hard to attach a price tag to the benefits bicycling actually brings to our community as a whole.

As part of the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition's strategic planning process in 2015, we commissioned an independent study by Alta Planning + Design to look at the question - how much money would we save if we doubled biking in Minneapolis?

3rd Avenue Approval Slowed

The City is planning to re-make 3rd Avenue downtown this year as a green, inviting street with a protected bikeway. It's an exciting plan that could create one of the premier downtown protected bikeways in the country and a selling point for downtown and the street. Unfortunately it has been slowed because of some opposition. Here's where things stand and how you can help.
