Solidarity in Safer Spaces- Pulse Tragedy

This weekend the largest mass shooting in America since Wounded Knee took place in Orlando, Florida. Pulse, a gay club celebrating Pride, was targeted during a Latinx night, and most of the 50 people who lost their lives belonged to the Latinx queer community. Over 100 people were shot.

This violent event has shaken our local queer and Latinx communities. Our Muslim community is anticipating a wrongful backlash of Islamophobia. This has effected Bicycle Coalition staff and volunteers deeply and personally.

Hennepin Avenue moving forward with protected bike lanes!

This week, the City Council transportation committee unanimously approved moving forward with a concept for Hennepin Avenue in downtown that includes protected bike lanes! Construction would be in 2020 and 2021. Here's the details.

Let’s Get Youth Biking! Highlights from the 2016 Youth Bike Summit

We attended the Youth Bike Summit this past Saturday held at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Here are some of the highlights from the summit!

The summit organized by Cycles for Change, a local non profit working to create a diverse base of cyclists, brought together organizations and public figures from across the globe that are working tirelessly to advocate for comprehensive and equitable biking policies. The summit focused on youth biking because it transforms communities and gives youth transferable skills to create brighter futures for themselves.
